SUMMARY:Purple Heart County Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:August 7 is the national “Purple Heart Day \nThe Purple Heart (PH) is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those wounded or killed while serving\, on or after 5 April 1917\, with the U.S. military. With its forerunner\, the Badge of Military Merit\, which took the form of a heart made of purple cloth\, the Purple Heart is the oldest military award still given to U.S. military members. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located in New Windsor\, New York. \nWe all have seen the “Purple Heart City” signs \, and American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 has proposed to the Camden County Commissioners to make Camden County a Purple Heart County . The proclamation was accepted and we will have a official Ceremony on August 7th\, 2023  in front of the Camdenton Courthouse at 9:30am . Commissioner Ike Skelton \, James Gohagen and Don Williams will be attending . We will have Master sergeant Sean Ambriz as speaker . Part of the American Legion Honor guard as well as a delegation of our American Legion Riders will also be present. Please attend as this is a great way to honor our Veteran’s and active Duty Military Members that the Purple Heart Day is  meant for.
